Global Missions Prayer Guide

  • Redeemer member Wai Ling Yeoh shares the following prayer requests for the Church in Malaysia:

    • Many believers are living lives of compromise and do not realize that they have embraced idols such as selfish ambition, materialism and worldliness. Pray that God will bring lasting transformation and deep change in the hearts of the believers.

    • Pray that God will strengthen the church in the fundamentals of faith amid pressures within the nation and global risks and instability today.

    • 72% of pastors work 55 – 75 hours a week, 84% of pastors felt that they are on call 24/7. 80% of pastors believe that their ministry negatively affected their family life. 57% of pastors are underpaid and struggle to make ends meet while being deprived of proper rest and sleep (www.necf.org.my). Pray for full-time workers.

    • Pray for unity among Christians especially between the indigenous peoples (mostly in east Malaysia) and the Christians in west Malaysia.

    • Pray that God will give strength and boldness to Christians to reach out in love to society through social and charitable activities.

    • Please pray for people and resources to spearhead an expository preaching ministry for the training and coaching of pastors and for God’s leading.

  • David Ulloa, Redeemer member and Director of Global Missions, asks that the following prayers be made for Mexico and the church there, specifically our sister denomination, The National Presbyterian Church of Mexico.

    • Pray for the church in Mexico that she can stand in the middle of all the violence.

    • Pray for the new Presbyterian leaders, pastors and church planting projects in Mexico. Specifically pray for church planters: Luis Gallardo - Iglesia Núcleo, Efraín García - Comunidad Oriente, and Christopher Ortega - Iglesia Encuentro.

    • Pray for the recently elected president: Claudia Sheinbaum.

    • Pray for all the people that are hopeless; pray that they can find hope through the gospel.

    • Pray for the Mexican Theological Presbyterian Seminary and College. Pray that the students can be passionate about theology and ministry.

    • Pray for Andres and Ruth Garza who work with City to City Latin America doing networking and connecting pastors to church planting courses and trainings.

    • Pray for the churches that don’t have a pastor right now; pray that God will provide.xt goes here

    • In 2021, a Christian in Nigeria was killed every two hours for their faith, resulting in 4,650 believers losing their lives (source: Global Christian Relief). Pray for God's protection over his children, shielding them from death and the daily persecution they face.

    • Pastors and believers are frequently targeted, attacked, and kidnapped for ransom. Tragically, some victims die in captivity despite families paying the ransom. Pray that God will bring an end to the wave of kidnappings and banditry in Nigeria.

    • Pray that God will grant wisdom to Nigeria's leaders on how best to govern and protect their people. Ask God to remove corruption and greed from the hearts of the nation's leaders, so that they may enact reforms that will benefit all Nigerians.

    • Pray for the strength and resilience of God's ministers and workers in his vineyard. May they remain steadfast in preaching the truth of the gospel, despite the hardships and persecutions they face daily. Pray that God will send more laborers into his harvest field to reach the many souls in need of his salvation.

    • In some regions of Nigeria, there are churches that outwardly appear godly but lack the true Spirit of God. Pray that God will draw his Church closer to himself and pour out his Spirit upon believers. May the Church bear fruit for righteousness, and that others may see our good works and be led to Christ.

    • There is a growing decline in the number of young people who believe in God or wish to be part of the Church. Pray that God will revive the hearts of Nigerian youth and draw them closer to him. Pray that the youth will honor God and thrive in his presence.

    • Finally, pray that God will prosper Nigeria’s economy, providing for basic needs like food and resources, and enabling Christians to support the spread of the gospel in areas that have yet to hear the Good News of Christ.

    • Spiritual Growth and Commitment - Pray for Christians in Singapore to deepen their faith and commitment to biblical teachings.

    • Evangelism and Outreach to foreigners working in Singapore - Pray for effective evangelism strategies to reach foreigners working in Singapore from China, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Myanmar, and more.

    • Church Leadership and Unity - Pray for church leaders to have wisdom and strength in guiding their congregations.

    • Pray for the nation’s leaders to lead with wisdom and compassion, for eradication of corruption in the government and for free, fair and peaceful elections in 2028.

    • Pray for eradication of poverty, for a better economy and for jobs.

    • Pray for the rains. Zimbabwe has suffered from drought and depends on the rains for crops and to fill lakes and dams which supply electricity and water.

    • Pray for hope in Jesus and his promises to be restored amidst this economic crisis.

    • Pray for hearts of Zimbabweans to turn to God. Pray also for churches that have prioritized financial gain and fame to return to preaching the gospel.

    • Pray for the Zimbabwean diaspora. Pray that they continue following Jesus and that they may find communities of believers to help strengthen their faith. Also pray for their continued support and generosity to their loved ones and communities back home in Zimbabwe.
